A discharge current of a frequency of 40.8 MHz was applied to a 10-cm-diam tube filled with mercury vapor and containing two electrodes spaced 6 cm apart. The discharge current, voltage amplitude, and the time-averaged extent of the plasma sheet were measured, and the effective electron collision frequency was calculated from these values, using an equation obtained in a preceding analysis.
