SC effects manifested in VLF emission recorded at midlatitudes are related to instances of solar-wind shock waves observed by ISEE-3 and to instances of the simultaneous increase of hourly values of the main parameters of the solar wind and the interplanetary magnetic field strength as observed by the IMP satellites. It is established that the observed manifestation of the SC effects in the VLF emission is correlated with the arrival of shock waves at the earth.
