An analysis is made of the effect of temporal fluctuations of the magnetospheric electric field on the structure of the plasmasphere and plasmapause. It is found that, for L greater than 3.5, the charged particle concentration in the plane of the geomagnetic equator decreases as L to the -4th. During periods of electric field enhancement, the plasmasphere is extended not only in the evening sector but also in the daytime sector; during electric field decreases, the existence of two or more plasmapauses is possible.
