Spacecraft flight sometimes involves movement along the force lines of an external magnetic field, and the flow of the rarefied plasma around the body is described by a system of equations of a self-consistent field. The characteristics of this situation are explained, and a procedure for determining the potential of the electric field in the medium behind the body in the rarefied plasma flow is derived.
