The paper examines the effect of the low thermal conductivity of the lunar mantle on the temperature of the interior and on the surface heat flux. Two models of mantle thermal conductivity are considered: a homogeneous model with averaged heat transfer coefficient and an inhomogeneous model with a blocking layer, several hundred meters thick, on the surface.
