The E2 part of the 12C(α,γ)16O capture
process at stellar energies is calculated in a microscopically founded
coupled channel approach based on the rotational model of Tamura. At the
astrophysically most effective energy we obtain an S-factor for E2
capture of SE2(300 keV) = 0.10 MeV b.
