An analysis is presented of Molniya-1 data on flux density profiles of relativistic outer-belt electrons at various magnetic-storm phases; different types of electron variations occurring inside and outside the plasmasphere are examined. The analysis includes geomagnetically quiet conditions, the main phase, the storm restoration stage, and the poststorm period. It is shown that interactions of electrons with energies exceeding 1.5 MeV and ion-cyclotron waves, produced as a result of proton ring current instability, play a significant role in the formation of relativistic-electron flux density profiles at various storm phases.
