The duration of the encounters is analyzed. The encounters studied are divided into low- and high-velocity encounters according to the duration of the comet's presence in the vicinity of Jupiter. Examples of low-velocity (Russel 3, 1931-1941) and high-velocity (Honda-Mrkos-Paidushakova, 1935) encounters are given. The main characteristics of high- and low-velocity encounters are described.
