New observations of HD 62001, the central star of V-V 1-7, suggest that it is a normal A-type star which has started to depart from the main sequence; probably it is a spectroscopic binary. It is shown that V-V 1-7 is no longer visible, and its nature is discussed. The strange behavior of V-V 1-7, together with the UV fluctuations and radial velocity variations of its apparent central star, HD 62001, leads to the conclusion that this star has a faint, possibly hot, and certainly interesting companion.
