Magnetographs, Magnetographs: Solar Magnetic Fields

The digital magnetograph for measuring longitudinal magnetic fields is described. A principle of the digital synchronous detection is used in the magnetograph system. The results of test observations carried out in summer 1995 are presented. From observations it was estimated that maximum amplitude of noise is less than 1.5 mT. Observations of the region 200×200 arcsec with the aperture 1×4 arcsec require about 10 min.
