Accelerator mass spectroscopy (AMS) at Oxford has been used to investigate the noble metal elemental composition of kamacite from twelve iron meteorites. W, Re, Os, Ir, Pt and Au abundances of kamacite samples isolated from iron meteorites has been determined by AMS. We have also determined Co, Ir and Au by instrumental neutron activation analysis, and Ni by energy dispersive X-ray analysis. AMS is found to be an accurate method of a threshold potentially much lower than neutron activation analysis. Due to large scatter in the bulk meteorite abundances, we are not able to estimate partition of elements between kamacite and taenite. We find that, within the uncertainties, our kamacite abundance determinations reflects the bulk meteorite abundances.
