We present an investigation of the ionization state and temperature of the hot plasma surrounding the active galactic nuclei NGC 2110 based on high resolution spectral data taken with the High Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer on board the recently launched X-ray satellite Chandra. By comparing spectral differences between data confined to the inner .7 arcseconds with that of the outer 12.3 arcseconds, we strive to identify the origin of the plasma giving rise to the observed X-ray absorption and emission lines, be it from the regions closest to the central black hole or the outer surrounding regions of the galaxy.
