We use the simplified "b ox model" description of particle acceleration
in supernova remnants to investigate the spectral modifications induced
by the BellLucek magnetic field amplification process. In particular we
examine whether such models can naturally account for the shape of the
"knee" in the observed Galactic cosmic ray spectrum.
