An analytical model of galaxies with rigidly rotating bars is presented and compared with observational data. The galaxy is modeled as a self-gravitating gas disk expressed in terms of gasdynamic equations. The bar-spiral structure is treated as a wave pattern maintained by a bar-spiral gravitational field. The density distribution decreases exponentially outwards from the galactic center. Small disturbances from the base state are caused by relative rotations of the bar and disk. An integral transformation technique is used to obtain a self-consistent solution around the contour of the disk. Applied to observational data, the varying morphologies of SBa, SBb and SBc galaxies are attributed to different base states. Data also support the concept that the density thins with distance outward.
