Magnetotail dipolarization fronts demarkate the passage of localized magnetic flux bundles structures moving Earthward accompanying busty bulk flows. Individual multi-spaceraft case studies have shown that dipolarization fronts cause a pressure increase that diverts the magnetic field and flow in the ambient plasma. This diversion is consistent with the localized nature of the dipolarization fronts in the XY plane, resulting in a quadrupolar signature of the magnetic field ahead of the front. Using a large database of ~2000 events we evaluate the statistical significance of these early results and their importance for field aligned current generation. We also examine the statistical properties of the vertical current sheets as function of front normal and distance, the flow properties and other plasma characteristics. Finally we examine the evolution of these properties as function of distance from Earth and from the neutral sheet.
