A new method of determining the dimensionless expansion and acceleration rates of the universe as a function of redshift will be presented. This method is almost completely independent of assumptions regarding the nature and redshift evolution of the dark energy, thus the results can lead to a determination of the amount and redshift evolution of the dark energy. The method is applied to a large sample of supernovae and radio galaxies. The supernovae have redshifts between zero and one, and the radio galaxies have redshifts between zero and two. The results obtained with these two independent methods, using supernovae and radio galaxies, will be compared, and the dimensionless expansion and acceleration rates as a function of redshift over the redshift interval from zero to two will be presented.
