The letter reports two recent in-situ measurements of OH in the stratosphere between altitudes of 29 and 43 km using a resonance fluorescence technique that was previously employed for the measurement of ground-state atomic oxygen. The experimental technique is described in detail along with the photon detector and the absolute-calibration procedure. The results are found to indicate OH concentrations that approach the maximum predicted by current stratospheric photochemical theory.
