Laboratory measurements of the A-X and B'-X systems of MgH are reported which provide the relative energies of the first seven ground-state vibrational levels of the molecule. Vacuum wavenumbers for the assigned lines in 13 bands of the A2 pi-X2 Sigma(+) system are given along with term values for the two states involved. Rotational constants for the various vibrational levels are determined, vibrational constants are derived for the two cited states, and a value of 1.33 eV is obtained for the dissociation energy of MgH. Excellent agreement between theoretical and experimental values is indicated.
