Attention is given to the application of semiconducting thallium
selenide for infrared detection by bolometers. It is found that
operating the bolometer at 1.5 K yields a responsivity of 10 to the 6th
V/W, a noise equivalent power of the order of 10 to the -15th W/sq rt
Hz, and a response time of 3 msec.
