The usual tests applied to telescope mirrors are the Foucault knife-edge
tester, the Ronchi grating and the out-of-focus star image. These tests
reveal errors in the overall figure of the mirror, but do not show the
micro-ripples on its surface. This paper presents a method of testing
for micro-ripples that is available to the practical amateur.
