Time dilation is not only one of the most intriguing effects of Special Relativity (SR) but also one of its early experimental pillars. Following a proposal of Einstein, Ives and Stilwell1 used the relativistic Doppler shift of optical lines emitted from Hydrogen canal rays to experimentally confirm time dilation on the percent level.
