We consider a model for transient high-energy gamma-ray emission arising from hot-spot formation in an accretion disk surrounding massive black holes. The high energy radiation is produced by relativistic electrons in the comoving fluid frame which Compton scatter external soft photons from the accretion-disk hot spot. The time-variable gamma radiation may account for flaring events from extragalactic sources of high-energy radiation.
