The adiabatic bulk and shear moduli, and their temperature derivatives, of polycrystalline modified spinel of composition (Mg0.91Fe0.09)2SiO4 were determined by means of the resonance sphere technique at ambient pressure. The adiabatic bulk and shear moduli, respectively, are 165.70 and 106.25GPa at 300K. The temperature derivatives of the adiabatic bulk and shear moduli, respectively, are -0.016(3) and -0.012(1)GPa/K at temperatures between 278 and 318K, which do not agree with those of Li et al. [Science 281 (1998) 675].
