It is well known that no tensorial expression for the gravitational energy-momentum density exists in the general relativity (GR) formulation of gravity. We argue that GR seems not be the appropriate framework to deal with this problem. In fact, our results show that, in the context of a gauge theory for the translation group, and in particular in the so called teleparallel equivalent of GR, it is possible to obtain an expression for the gravitational energy-momentum density, which is a true spacetime and gauge tensor.1...
