Solar high energy observations are usually divided into three energy ranges: soft X-ray (0.1 keV - 10 keV), X ray (0.1 MeV - 10 MeV), γ ray (≥1 MeV). The development process and main characteristics of observation techniques in each energy range, as well as image system and detectors are reviewed. The authors lay emphasis on application of this new technique.
