The Very Large Array (VLA) is a high-sensitivity multifrequency aperture synthesis radio telescope that will provide high-resolution brightness maps of cosmic radio sources. The present paper describes the design of a mechanically simple TE(0n) (n not less than 2) mode filter for the overmoded VLA circular waveguide. The filter operating from 26.14 to 47.85 GHz presents a higher attenuation to all TE(0n) modes than any currently available alternative design.
