Some pyridinium-ylids properties of symmetry are here discussed in order to establish the nature of the transitions in the electronic absorption spectra of these molecules. The direction and the sense of the charge transfer determining the visible absorption band is also established on the symmetry reasons. The obtained results are corroborated with the experimental data.
