The design of antennas for large space radio telescopes involves the problem of stabilizing the reflecting surface. The present paper deals with construction of a controllable mechanical system that will automatically adjust the configuration of a surface. A structural requirement that must be satisfied by such a system is formulated. A control law is proposed for one of the possible schemes. A stability analysis is carried out for a closed-loop system.
