The difference in the decay rates of the fast and slow parts of the light curves of type I supernovae shows a dependence on z which differs significantly from the theoretical dependence derived on the assumption of pure Doppler effect. This can be interpreted in the simplest way either as an evolutionary effect or as a population effect within our Supergalaxy.
