It is argued that local supersymmetry might provide us with a solution to the hierarchy problem. The Planck mass, the grand unification scale and the scale of weak interaction breakdown might be understood in terms of each other. The general mechanism is outlined and the resulting low-energy sector is discussed. It is pointed out that there are several inequivalent ways to fine tune the cosmological constant.
