Sunspot nests, defined as those small surface spaces within which a succession of spot groups appears, are the subject of the present single-linkage clustering technique search through longitude, latitude, and time for sunspot groups occurring over the August, 1959 through December, 1964 period. The appearance of spot groups in a nest is found to be intermittent; while active nest spots may be absent for nearly two complete rotations, in many nests more than one group has been recorded for one disk crossing. A strong tendency is noted for the nests to cluster once again in larger nests, so that more than a third of the compact nests are components of larger ones.
