The latitude-dependence of the damping decrement of Pi2 trains observed against a bay background is studied. It is shown that the damping of the Pi2 trains is not a constant quantity for all latitudes. It, therefore, cannot serve as a global characteristic of magnetospheric turbulence, but rather as a local characteristic of the turbulence of force tubes in the auroral zone.
