CMS will be one of the LHC detectors at CERN. The flux of data will be so high that a drastic on-line selection is needed. The Trigger Primitives (TP) are a basic element of this selection. In the electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL), they are used to estimate the transverse energy, and to find the bunch crossing corresponding to the event. The study presented in this paper shows that the linearity and the resolution of the ECAL-TP response are satisfactory, and that the efficiency of the bunch crossing identification is perfect for particles above 1 GeV.
