The Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) Satellite #1 (SEDSAT 1) is a student project to design, build, and fly a microsat-class satellite. Students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) are designing and building the satellite, while students at the University of Arizona (UA) are designing and building the primary site in the distributed ground data system. An overview of the SEDSAT project, its scientific goals, the satellite's instrumentation, and the design of the distributed ground data system will be presented.
