Ion spectrometer measurements of the interaction between the solar wind and Venus were made with the Venera 9 and 10 spacecraft and are analyzed. Ion fluxes and energy spectra were recorded as the satellites flew by the planet. The position of the bow shock and ionopause was determined from the data. The position of the bow shock is in agreement with theoretical predictions on the basis of a gasdynamic model.
