Significant amounts of strontium contamination occur in analyses of minerals by standard procedures using laboratory glassware. The contamination is much higher than that obtained in blank runs and is associated with the presence of some mineral samples. The contamination can be eliminated by using only teflon and platinum ware during chemical treatment.
