A model has been developed to study the gasdynamics of a flare region heated by a stream of energetic electrons. It is shown that the energy deposition can introduce strong chromospheric dynamical effects. As a result of fluid motion into rarefied regions, there is considerable redistribution of mass causing a profound influence on the emitted line radiation.
