AN increasing number of farmers now make a routine practice of dressing seed corn before sowing with a reliable organo-mercury seed dressing, for by this means the following diseases are prevented: bunt of wheat (Tilletia caries), covered smut of barley (Ustilago Hordei), leaf stripe of barley (Helminthosporium gramineum), net blotch of barley (Helminthosporium teres), covered smut of oats (Ustilago Kolleri), loose smut of oats (Ustilago AvenĂŚ), and leaf spot (or stripe) of oats (Helminthosporium AvenĂŚ).
