Tritium measurements were performed on Darmstadt rainwaters and on monthly average rainwater samples from a number of European and Asiatic stations. The north-south and the east-west dependences of the tritium concentration are discussed on the basis of existing models for the atmosphere. The rate of influx of "natural" tritium into the troposphere is calculated from the east-west dependence to be 0·-4 atoms T/cm 2 sec with an error of about 40%. The deposition of stratospheric tritium during the year of 1960 is in agreement with expectation. The tritium concentrations increase after the Russian weapon tests in the fall of 1961.
