The NGST will provide an unprecedented opportunity for high-acuity and high-contrast imaging from a space observatory. Among the instruments included in the NGST/ISIM design concept study, a coronagraphic camera will enable direct imaging and spectroscopy of a representative sample of nearby planetary systems and substellar companions, the near-environment of young stellar objects and planetary nebulae, and detailed studies of AGN hosts. We present a number of representative science programs and the current design concept and predicted performance for a coronagraphic camera optimized for NGST.
