Quark Stars: Stellar Evolution, Neutron Stars: Stellar Evolution
Scientific paper
The author studies the fate of outer layers of a dense star which underwent the transition to a strange star. "Burning" occurring while the star is hot can significantly reduce the amount of material covering quark matter interior. The crust of the resulting strange star can be much thinner than the outer crust of a neutron star, but obtaining a bare strange star in this way is not possible.
