Based on data from the 1996 March-April vacuum alignment tests, the measured STIS wavelength resolution through the narrowest slits is better than 2 lo-res pixels, while the design specification is 2.5 lo-res pixels. These same data demonstrate that the MAMA hi-res mode with 2048X2048 pixel images is necessary to critically sample the narrow LSF.
