A stereopanorama of the Venera landing site (Beta Regio) on Venus was obtained through the use of Pioneer-Venus-1 radar data. The relationships between roughness (meter and decameter scale) and altitude as well as between roughness and regional slope (for a 280-km base) are studied on the basis of correlation analysis using digital image processing. The roughness-altitude correlation characteristics are explained by the presence of tectonic and volcanic activity.
