Methods Of Reduction: Ccd Photometry

Scientific paper

The authors discuss some of the problems met during a photometric program with a dyed CCD conducted to derive astrophysical parameters for stars at the 18 - 19th magnitude. Apparently one can do uvby photometry down to these magnitudes with a 2% accuracy in one colour. It is an objective to extend uvby and possibly also Hβ photometry to faint stars to study e.g. galactic structure outside the solar neighbourhood and enlarge the data base for F, G, and K stars to Z distances far beyond 500 - 600 pc in a systematic way. Towards the South Galactic Pole the authors possibly will be able to derive at least v, b, y for somewhere between 1000 and 3000 non-stellar astronomical objects.
