XMASS is a multi-purpose experiment using liquid xenon which aims to detect cold dark matter and low energy solar neutrinos, as well as search for neutrinoless double beta decay. So far a R&D study has been performed using a prototype detector. An 800 kg size liquid xenon detector is going to be constructed in a few years. Results of the R&D study and prospects of the 800 kg detector are described.
