Problems concerning the process of star formation are related to difficulties regarding the angular momentum and the absence of a correlation between the axis of stellar rotation and the rotation of the Galaxy. In an attempt to resolve these problems, it is supposed that star formation occurs by the accumulation of a large number of randomly moving subcondensations. An investigation is conducted concerning the general conditions which these subcondensations must satisfy if they are to play a part in the development of a gas cloud.
