Stability of spherically symmetric and time-independent solutions in
five-dimensional general relativity is examined. It is shown that almost
all the solutions are unstable for excitation of scalar monopole modes.
Only the Schwarzschild black hole with a constant radius in the fifth
dimension remains to be stable.
