Results are reported for analysis of a set of H-alpha spectrograms obtained with high spatial resolution in quiet areas close to the solar limb. It is found that virtually all contrast profiles in supergranule-boundary regions can be readily fitted to a curve given by a formula in Becker's cloud model, that the contrasts in supergranular-cell interior do not conform to Becker's cloud model, and that the contrast profiles in transition regions between supergranular-cell interiors and supergranule boundaries are not consistent with the cloud model. Average values of cloud-model parameters computed for the disk center and the limb are compared. It is concluded that there is a range of structural features in supergranule-boundary regions for which Becker's cloud model is approximately valid, that this model fails to provide meaningful information on the physical properties of supergranule-boundary mottles, and that at least some of the contrast profiles may be best explained in terms of an 'embedded feature' model.
