The nuclear starburst, flat X-ray spectrum spiral galaxy NGC 6217 shows a one-sided jet in radio and X-rays, extending out to 2.7 (18.8 kpc) to the SW of the galaxy. NGC 6217 stands out as the fourth nearest X-ray jet galaxy known. We propose a deep XMM-Newton observation of this extraordinary source to get new visible-UV data, to resolve the jet from the X-ray emission of the galaxy, and to do a detailed X-ray spectral investigation of the jet, in order to find out the emission mechanism(s) responsible for the radio-to-X-ray jet emission.
