The core of the bipolar nebula NGC 2346 has been observed with the Imperial College Speckle Interferometer combined with the 3.9-m Anglo-Australian telescope. A disc of light 0.54 arcsec in diameter surrounds an inner, bright, unresolved source. It is suggested that this extended region may be light from the central A5 V star scattered off a cloud of dust ≅420 AU in diameter.
